Westpower Rectifiers
WestPower Rectifiers Pty Ltd was founded in Melbourne in 1989, and was formerly the Rectifier Division of Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company Australia Limited (WBS).
For many years the Rectifier Division was based in the WBS factory located at Spotswood, Melbourne. A decision, by WBS, to concentrate on core railway signalling products, resulted in a management buy-out of the rectifier business with all of its technology, records, and designs, including all manufacturing rights. Rectifier equipment was manufactured at the Spotswood factory under various trade names including: -
Westinghouse Rectifier
McKenzie & Holland (M+H)
Westinghouse Davenset
Weststat
In August 1999 WestPower Rectifier's operations were merged with those of M+H Power Systems Pty Ltd. M+H Power Systems will continue to design and manufacture power semiconductor equipment, and to offer prompt and efficient service assistance either on a routine or emergency basis for all existing power semiconductor equipment. The original Westinghouse now held by M+H Power Systems are invaluable in maintaining or upgrading rectifier equipment originally manufactured during that era.
