Project Snapshot

Challenges

  •  Prior to the commencement of this project the power system the station relied on generators running 24 hours a day.
  • Expense of diesel fuel
  • Carbon emissions
  • Wet season, crocodiles

Solution

The new power station comprised of 15kW of Suntech solar panels feeding a 2900 A/hr battery pack through to three Selectronic SPMC1201 generator interactive inverters.

Outcome & Benefits

  • Less reliance on diesel
  • Cost savings

With the system only installed for a short time the benefits were already being shown. At the height of the wet season, the worst time for solar production, generator run time has been reduced to ~5 hours a day. The project had room for expansion to reduce this result even further by trenching, conduit and cabling.
